2005 ONE THOUSAND MILLENIA OF PEACE
Messenger of UNESCO’s 2000 Manifesto
INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY
Japanese Garden 21st. September 2005
" There shall be peace in the world when there
shall be peace at every person’s heart ".
Jardín Japonés - Buenos Aires, 21 de
Septiembre de 2005 17.00 pm

Dear Correspondents, Messengers, Peace Ambassadors, Friends
and Esteemed Colleagues
It
has been with great joy and peace that we have met this
morning at the Japanese Garden in order to
celebrate the International Peace Day and the World’s Peace
Bell’s fiftieth anniversary.
Several organisations have worked together for the
accomplishment of this celebration:

Peace, Art and Ecology Foundation,
3rd. Millenium Project,
URI ccsInitiative of United Religions),
WPPS, (Peace Prayer Society),
and One Thousand Peace Millenia.

Exactly two minutes before the celebration began it was
announced over the microphonehat the celebration would take
place at twelve sharp at the same time the World Peace bell
would toll. It was very emotional to await the exact moment
to make it toll twelve times. The raised arms touching the
quebracho log allowed us to wander and join millions of
people that at that very same moment all over the world
prayed as we did for Peace.

This was carried out with the cooperation of Mrs. María
Costa Pinto, Director ofthe UN information centre, Mabel
Remon, Julio Avruj, Rosalia Gutierrez, Marcelo Martorelli,
Monica Shocron, Susi Reich, Edson Texira, Cesar Clemente and
the subscriber, Inés Palomeque.

Subsequently and after paying tribute of one minute’s
silence we all stated unanimously “may PEACE prevail on
earth”.
With kisses, hugs, tears and illusions we descended from the
bell tower, we were all very moved while listening to the
United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Annan’s words
through the UN’s Information Centre Director, Mrs. María
Costa Pinto’s words.

The welcome speech was delivered by Ms. Susi Reich,
president of 3rd. Millenium Project Foundation,
and later Professor Marcelo Martorelli spoke on behalf of
the Peace, Ecology and Art Foundation. He emphasized the
three bulwarks towards the awakening of inner peace:
attentive observation, purpose awareness and Love awareness.

Mr. Cesar Clemente, a member of the One Thousand Millenia
Youth committee narrated part of the history of the world
peace bell and the bell tower.
Several ‘Capital Federal’ schools and Buenos Aires
surroundings’ adhered to the proposal and confirmed their
support in spreading Peace.

The standard-bearers of EGB15 school in Quilmes and San
Martín de los Andes School joined the meeting bearing the
standard of Peace, delivered to the young Peace Ambassadors
on 16 September at the National Senate.

Both directors, old as well as new friendo participated:
Fundación Conciencia Sin Barrreras,
Legión de la Buena Voluntad, Fundación Cultural Argentino
Japonesa, Asociación de la Campana de la Paz Mundial,
Fundación Argentina de las Naciones Camino a la Verdad;
young representatives of Ecuador’s Peace Culture; the
Argentine Association for Infancy and the Rotary Centre for
Internacional Peace Studies and conflict
solving among other institutions.

Ms. Inés Palomeque, Director of One Thousand Peace Millenia
delivered the closing speech, she thanked all people present
and invited them to dance different “World Circular
Dances”. Bettina Romanelli and Emilce Zarate designed
the choreography which we celebrated and for were thankful.

These experiences allows us to discover once again something
about ourselves, of our roots and ancestors. They generate
confidence and joy, they allow us to relate, to transmit
feelings and habits, and open ourselves to other cultures
that differ from ours. The celebration ended with a balloon
release with the peace pigeon in the centre, in order that
“our commitment with this search” Kofi Annan-2005 may arrive
and be disseminated all over the planet.
Agradecemos la colaboración de la
Fundación Cultural Argentino Japonesa
